UFC Heavyweight Division Rankings

Since UFC 160 is this weekend, this week will be dedicated to the Heavyweights. I'll breakdown this weekends fight card and give my predictions for UFC 160 on Friday. For today, I'll keep it simple, and give you the rundown of the UFC's Heavyweight Division with my rankings. Rankings are based on record, recent opponents, and the ranking of opponents faced.

Heavyweight Divison

1. Cain Velasquez (11-1)

2. Junior dos Santos (15-2)

3. Fabricio Werdum (16-5-1)

4. Daniel Cormier (12-0)

5. Frank Mir (16-7)

6. Antonio Silva (18-4)

7. Alistair Overeem (36-12-1)

8. Josh Barnett (32-6)

9. Antonio Nogueira (34-7-1-1)

10. Roy Nelson (20-7)

Honorable Mentions

Travis Browne (14-1-1)
Mark Hunt (9-7)
Stefan Struve (29-6)
Stipe Miocic (9-1)
Shane Carwin (12-2)

Just a note here at the end with my current No. 8 pick. Barnett is not officially signed with the UFC just yet, but as he is a free agent, and his last contract was with Zuffa, he'll stay up here until he re-signs or retires.

Welcome Back!

Fanatical - motivated or characterized by an extreme, uncritical enthusiasm or zeal, as in religion or politics.

That is exactly how I would describe myself when it comes to MMA. It is my religion. For the past 13 years I have watched every UFC event, and any MMA prommotion I can. Televised, Pay-Per-View, and some local shows that I can get my grubby little hands on. I am proud that MMA has grown to the point of mainstream and acceptance. What boggles the mind is now is the time when we will see some of the greatest athletes to ever grace the octagon and put on shows that will last a lifetime!

Thanks to a few of my closest friends wanting me to bring this back, and my cousin getting his chance to do his thing on the big stage, I'm reminded on why I had started this blog three years ago, and why I should come back.
